Zoro had heard the rumors about the Devil's Fruit all his life. Everyone had a story about how someone knew a person who had met a person that had eaten one. He thought if that were true there would've been a lot more people with strange abilities everywhere. He'd never met one before and had written the rumors off as just stories. He'd never have eaten one if he had been fortunate enough to find one. He promised he'd be the best swordsman in the world and he'd do it without the help of the Devil's Fruit or anything else.
